WorldSkills Sweden’s mission is showcasing the value of skills, raising the recognition of skilled professionals and elevate the status and quality of vocational education. We do this by changing the image of vocational education and the labour market. For this purpose, we arrange and participate in vocational competitions, both domestic and international.
Every second year we hold the Swedish SkillsCompetition, Yrkes-SM. The winners from this event – each the best in their respective profession – usually directly qualify into our Swedish National SkillsTeam, Yrkeslandslaget. They go on to represent Sweden in the European championships EuroSkills as well as the global WorldSkills Competition.
WorldSkills Sweden is a collaboration between The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise (Svenskt Näringsliv), The Swedish Trade Union Confederation (LO) and the Swedish Government through The Swedish National Agency for Education (Skolverket), Ministry of Education and Research (Utbildningsdepartementet) and Swedish National Agency for Higher Vocational Education (Myndigheten för yrkeshögskolan).
